Brad Sherman, a member of the US House of Representatives, has said that it was difficult for the US to talk to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman and former Prime Minister Imran Khan, while it is easy to talk to the current Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif.امریکی ایوان میں خطاب کرتے ہوئے بریڈ شرمن کا کہنا تھا کہ امریکا قلیل مدتی دوطرفہ خدشات کے ساتھ نہیں بلکہ جمہوریت اور انسانی حقوق کے اپنے عزم کے ساتھ کھڑا ہے۔ پاکستان کے حالیہ واقعات پر بات کرنا چاہوں گا۔
اپنی بات کو جاری رکھتے ہوئے کہا کہ واقعات کا جائزہ لیتے ہوئے کچھ لوگ کہیں گے کہ ہمیں ایسے سیاسی رہنما کی سپورٹ کرنی چاہیے جو ہمارا زیادہ حامی ہو۔ ہمارے لیے اس یا اُس دوطرفہ مسئلے سے نمٹنا آسان ہو گا، میرے خیال میں سٹیٹ ڈپارٹمنٹ اس بات سے اتفاق کرے گا جمہوریت اور قانون کی حکمرانی کا عزم ہمارے لیے سب سے پہلے ہے۔امریکی ایوان نمائندگان کے رکن نے مزید کہا کہ ماضی میں عمران خان سے بات کرنا ہمارے لیے مشکل تھا جبکہ وزیر اعظم شہباز شریف سے آسان ہے لیکن سوال جمہوریت اور قانون کی حکمرانی کا ہے۔

Referring to the recent decision and directives of the Supreme Court regarding provincial elections in Pakistan, he further said that the Supreme Court has given a decision that provincial elections should be held in Punjab and later in other provinces. This is the rule of law. It is believed that the court has ruled that the initial decision is final and non-appealable and the Supreme Court has ordered the necessary funds to be released for holding the provincial elections.

Brad Sherman further said that the US does not have a policy or a government that agrees with it. Supports democracy and the rule of law and also supports human rights, freedom of speech and the right to express opinions.
